News Reporter

Location: Preston or a mixture of hybrid working

Salary: Competitive

An opportunity has arisen to join the best news team in agricultural journalism as a reporter for Farmers Guardian.

If you have a natural curiosity to get to the heart of a story, are able to generate your own story ideas and have trained as a journalist, then this could be for you.

Reporting to the Head of News, you would be involved in writing and generating stories for Farmers Guardian’s print and digital platforms, as well as writing for sister brands and events when required.

This role will also see you contribute to our podcast and video content and has the potential to see you travel to all parts of the UK, and beyond.

As part of the news team, you will be covering the major agricultural stories of the time and asking what they mean for farmers, whether that is the emerging implications of life outside of the EU and what that means to farm support, rural crime and its impact on farming communities, or a host of other topics.

This is a superb role for someone with journalism training or practical experience and while an interest and understanding or agriculture is preferable, it is not essential.
