Machinery and Farm Technology Reporter

Reporting to: Head of Machinery and Farming Technology

 

Location: Preston – hybrid working in place. Remote working can be considered for the right candidate

Do you have a passion for agriculture, farming and farming machinery?

 

We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic Machinery and Farm Technology Reporter to join our organisation and work on some of the leading brands in UK agricultural publishing and events. You will work on our portfolio of titles, including Farmers Guardian, Arable Farming, Dairy Farmer and as well as involvement in exhibition events including LAMMA, Croptec and the British Farming Awards.

 

You will play a key role in the creation of machinery and farm technology content (written, video and audio), ensuring all content is produced to a high level and delivered at the right level for the intended audience.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Writing and sourcing news stories for our portfolio of titles, including Farmer’s Guardian.
  • Writing in a manner which meets the needs of our print audience and is also SEO optimised for online
  • Travel both nationally and internationally to report on event, conferences and tours for the brands
  • Take an interest in amplifying content via our social media channels
  • Generate and produce ideas for podcast and video platforms
  • Work with their line manager to produce larger investigative and campaigning articles which fit in with the defining themes of a certain time
  • Be an ambassador for the brands at different events
  • Produce content for events when required to do so

 

About you:

  • Have a passion for agriculture, particularly farming machinery and technology.
  • Possess excellent English, writing and editing skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Be enthusiastic and motivated to build knowledge and keep up with print and digital publishing trends and developments, creating learning recommendations as appropriate
  • Continually explore new opportunities and develop these in liaison with other departments
  • Previous experience in a similar role would be beneficial
