Testimonials

Here is a sample of the letters we have received from people who have used the Farmsitting service or are strong supporters.

January 2010

I am so glad that you have started this service because we have had a terrible time trying to find qualified, competent people. We leave a "book" of instructions with full colour photos and several different ways for them to contact us while we are on vacation but the worst part is trying to get some one to actually pick up the phone and dial the number to get help or clarification.

Hi! We just wanted to let you know that we have hired Curtis D. We are very pleased to have your service and have used it a number of times over the last 2 years with great success. The names you provide are always people that are especially interested and enjoy working in the agriculture field, and this has made for great employees.  Thank you very much for your help. We will continue to check this very useful website int he future.

Wow!  It is wonderful that you have started AgriConnect to match Farmers with Farmsitters.

With the peaks of work in different seasons and in different farming operations it can be very difficult to find temporary employees.  It is tough enough to find permanent full-time employees in any industry.  As farmers our time has been tied up in livestock husbandry or planting & harvesting crops.  Items that can not wait until tomorrow.  There is very little time to do any extra but the necessities.

AgriConnect allows a connection between farmers and farmsitters to fill the needs on both sides.  Farmsitters get to do what they love and gain some extra cash.  For the farmer labor relief is welcomed and appreciated.  Everyone wins.

What was surprising was this service is being offered free due to sponsorship from a variety of businesses and organizations.  It was a great feeling to see these sponsors stand behind us.  With the unpredictability of farm income, the increasing costs of production and the unsteady market prices it is a very kind gesture of the sponsors to show support for this industry to keep going.

Thank You.

Regards,

L. Marshall

An encouraging email from someone who watched City TV in Calgary

My name is Lisa D. and I reside just east of Calgary grew up on an acreage, married a farmer...and the rest is history. I saw your promo on City TV this morning and I instantly thought of several people that could sign up as Farmsitters and have already emailed them to join!!!
I think you have really found an incredible concept here. Some of the people could be both sitters and looking for the "extra" hand. As well, please feel free to let me know when you plan on branching out in the Manitoba market - I know of several farmers in Southern Manitoba that sure could use a service like what you are offering!!

Dear Frank,

I must tell you what a wonderful idea you have come up with. I am a farm owner myself and for years I was not able to go away on a holiday as there just was nobody that I could find to take care of my place.

I really wanted to go to Maui this year as my folks are getting on and you never know when their last trip will happen. So, I started my search, looking and asking people if they knew of anybody who would be willing to look after my horses, dogs and cats. I was not having much luck when my brother gave me the article in the Edmonton Journal about AgriConnect. I was very excited and impressed that someone right here in our own backyard had come up with this idea. I had previously read about this type of program in Scotland, but now it was being offered to us right here, under our fingertips. I immediately went up on the AgriConnect Website, read all about it and was sure that this was a great idea and we should be embracing it. Because I only work part time and I know how it feels to not be able to go away and get that much needed break, I decided that I would sign up as a farm sitter myself. I know how important it is to have someone who is knowledgeable and trustworthy taking care of your life's investment. So the idea of giving 3 references was crucial for me. If you are not comfortable with who is taking care of your affairs back home, then you will not be able to enjoy yourself while you are away. My philosophy is to take care of someone else's livestock, pets or house, just like it was mine. I want my fellow community members to know their place is safe with me and go and have a great time. Hopefully someone will want to do the same for me one day.

I also think this is a great way to network and meet other people in the area who share the same or similar interests as myself.

So hats off to you Frank!! You have no idea just how much your new program will enhance the lives of so many.

Yours truly,
